Registration season opens to the general public on April 1st. Families who are new to CCS are encouraged to call anytime to schedule a tour of Cornerstone and meet our staff. We will provide you with information to start the application process at that time. Once applications are accepted, and admission is offered, new students are welcome to register on or after April 1st, 2008. Please feel free to contact Melanie Pfaff, Office Manager for more information at 503-566-8520.
We encourage all CCS parents to come to the annual Parent Teacher Fellowship Board Meeting at 6 PM on April 7th. This is a great time to see your school leadership in action. Did you know that our school board is 100% made up of parents of current CCS students? If you are interested in getting involved in your school, shaping the education of your child at the grass roots level, we would love to have parents apply to become a board member. Board positions are currently open. You can see Mrs. Pfaff in the school office for information about the requirements and an application. Cornerstone is blessed to have parents of its students take this active roll in the education we offer at CCS!
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 we will gather at the school at 6:30 PM for a planning meeting for Celebration of Young Authors. Please join us if you would like to help with Set Up, CLean Up, Serving lunch, Decorations/Theme, Be a Tour Guide: escort a class of students to each of their events through the day, Be a presenter, Be a judge for student books. Do you know anyone who is an author or illustrator professionally that we could contact to present at our celebration? Please see Mrs. Pfaff in the office if you know someone who would be a good presenter at Celebration of Young Authors! Thanks.
WE HAVE CHANGED THE DATE TO MAY 30th for this annual CCS event. Plan to come help or just enjoy the festivities of the day. This day celebrates the work of our students, who are becoming young authors! Preschoolers and kindergarteners will have worked on a class book together, or a small book of their own. Elementary students will have written and illustrated their own book for the event. We also enjoy a variety of guest speakers and presentations that bring out the myriad of ways writing and illustration skills will be used throughout life in a variety of fields. We focus on different styles of writing such as journalism, fiction, non-fiction, biography, and poetry as well as delving into other aspects of illustration or performance which would require the work of a writer behind the scenes. We will be having a special Young Authors' Day Friday Fun Lunch and would like to know if you plan to attend so we can plan for enough food. CCS Students, Staff, and Young Authors volunteers will be paid for - guests should bring $3 for lunch. Please contact Melanie in the school office for more information at 503-566-8520.
Please don't schedule anything for your students to be away from school during these dates as we will be doing SAT Testing in all elementary classes: Monday, April 21st through Tuesday April 29th every day. Please see your child's teacher if you have some conflict with these dates as your child's testing may be affected. Thank you.
Leaving for the Library at 12:30 PM.
